Well, that's exactly what Canibus did. I realize that it might seem like I'm jumping on the "Can-I-Bus sucks" bandwagon, but I assure you that I've heard this album and I've come to the conclusion that this is one of the most horrific debut albums I've ever heard. (I've been subjected to many of them) Even worse than the actual quality of the music is how damn depressing the album sounds. It's truly sad to see such a waste of potential. You'll hear all day how talented of a lyricists Canibus is, but that's not true. He is a great battle rapper, not lyricist. He can destroy you in a face-to-face battle, but that does not always translate into the ability to make a good record. An entire album is based off the topic of him being the world's best rapper is obviously redundant, but I could never in a million years type out how motherfucking boring this shit was. Wyclef is the man who also deserved all of this criticism. Along with this boring topic, our ears are forced to hear the only thing worse: his beats. This isn't my opinion on the album as a whole either, the songs don't sound any good by themselves. Right off the bat, you'll know exactly what you're in for with the rest of the album. He tricks you for a slight second, as the second song is actually the best on the album, but the album is then straight down the drain. One good song on the album isn't impressive.
If you completely ignore all of my non-recommendation, don't feel bad if you don't understand a word of what the man's saying. I'm not saying it's a bad thing that the man is well educated in the vocabulary department, but he's a whole other kind of walking dictionary. Instead of being like El-P and putting into clever punchlines, all he really does is say complex ass word that make you feel stupid as shit. The only other notable quality is that Can-I-Bis contains some of his beef with LL Cool J, which I'll admit was pretty entertainment. LL unanimously killed him to the point that Canibus had to go off dissing Eminem to recapture some fame. Everyone knows that's just a no no, as Em ended up putting the final nail into his coffin.
Calling this Ras Kass syndrome would be a huge knock against the originator of the term. At least Ras Kass had something meaningful to say, which is not even close to the case in Canibus' situation. I'm trying really hard to find a redeeming quality, but it's hard, man. The lyrical side of him is obviously there, but he still couldn't put that to good use. I guess you can check out "Buckingham Palace", but I highly recommend finding something better to listen to.
