Nastradamus suffered the same fate of I Am.., but only to a certain extent. No fans were able to get their hands on the music, but someone inside of Columbia records sent out a copy to all of the worlds major critics. When they heard it, they knew Nas wasn't lying about the quality of the songs and all the hype he built for it was most definitely warranted. In fact, every single critic agreed that it was the greatest piece of music every recorded. As a result, they called for a meeting. A huge meeting, where everyone with respected opinions was required to ended in order to discuss Nastradamus. Unlike Nas, though, not everybody was all that sure that the world was going to end. They just all thought Nas had recaptured his Illmatic glory days, only to a much, much, much, higher extent. I know this may all seem crazy to you, but you would have had to of heard it if you really want to know the power of this album. Everyone decided together, that this was the peak of hip hop. Other rappers would hear this and just give up on recording and find a new profession. While this album was still good enough to entertain you for an entire lifetime, the critics weren't ready to see hip hop go so soon.
So what they did was unanimously give this album the worst rating they possible could. Trash it. Exclaim loudly that Nas had finally gone off the deep end and sold out. They weren't sure of anything, but at the very least they hoped that their efforts would stop people from buying it. People weren't the biggest issue. If they actually bought it and, gasp, said they enjoyed it, they would be shunned by the hip hop community and would be treated like outcasts for the rest of their lives. The real issue was making sure that other recording artists wouldn't check this out. To even their surprise, their plan worked to absolute perfection. The album sold copies, but that was mostly from pre orders. Once they got their copies, they checked out the reviews and came to the conclusion that they shouldn't even bother listening to it. There was once case were a man was found on the ground bleeding profusely after cutting his wrist with the CD. Another man caused a car crash in which sixty three people died after the man lit his copy on fire and threw it out his window. Yes, the musical critics had actually succeeded and managed to save hip hop!
Just kidding, this albums trash.
